What to Expect
WHAT TO EXPECT
Get ready to experience waterfowl hunting in the heart of the Central Flyway. From your arrival at the lodge to your final hunt, our goal is to make your trip with Falun Feathers as seamless, comfortable, and memorable as possible.
Here’s everything you need to know before you arrive.
Before Your Trip: Licensing
Prior to your first morning hunt, each hunter is required by law to obtain the appropriate licenses, permits, and stamps:
Kansas Resident or Non-resident Hunting License
HIP Permit
Kansas State Waterfowl Stamp
Federal Duck Stamp
Already purchased a Federal Duck Stamp in another state?
You do not need to purchase another, but you must be able to provide proof of your valid Federal Duck Stamp upon request.
Licenses and permits can be purchased online through the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks.

ARRIVING AT FALUN FEATHERS
Plan to arrive at the lodge the afternoon or evening before your first scheduled hunt.
Falun Feathers Lodge is conveniently located in Central Kansas, approximately:
- 1 hour from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport
- 30 minutes from Salina Regional Airport
If you are flying into Kansas, you will need to rent a vehicle for transportation to the lodge and to and from your hunts.

THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR FIRST HUNT
One of our team members will stop by the lodge to welcome your group and get everyone ready for the following morning.
We’ll:
- Have each hunter complete the required waivers
- Go over the plan for your first hunt
- Share the meeting location and timing
- Answer any last-minute questions
From there, settle in, get your gear ready, and prepare for an early morning in the field.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FIELD
Located in the heart of the Central Flyway, Falun Feathers offers the opportunity to pursue a wide variety of migrating waterfowl throughout the season.
Depending on migration patterns, weather, and conditions, species may include:
Lesser Canada geese • Specklebellies • Snow geese • Mallards • Pintails • Teal • Gadwall • Wigeon • and more
Every hunt is different. Our team will use current bird movement and field conditions to determine the best opportunities for your group.

BETWEEN HUNTS
When you’re not in the field, kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Great Plains at the Falun Feathers Lodge.
Located outside of town, the lodge offers a remote and relaxing place to recharge between hunts while still providing convenient access to the McPherson area.
The lodge includes a full kitchen, outdoor barbecue grill, and pellet smoker, giving your group the option to cook meals and enjoy the lodge at your own pace.
Prefer to eat out? The McPherson area offers a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Local recommendations are available upon request.

YOUR FINAL DAY
All personal belongings, hunting gear, coolers, and other items must be removed from the lodge by 1:00 PM on your final day.
Before departing, double-check your room and common areas for personal items and make sure harvested birds are properly prepared for transportation.
Come Ready to Hunt
Bring your gear, prepare for the Kansas weather, and we’ll take it from there.
Whether the morning brings mallards over the decoys, geese working the spread, or a mixed bag moving through the Central Flyway, you’ll experience waterfowl hunting the way it was meant to be — in good company, in great country, and right in the heart of the migration.
